Given the tremendous growth in Chinese higher education, it is very important for American institutions to have a sense of what is going on in China to encourage more collaborative efforts between individuals and institutions.
Finally, there is real power in comparison. American universities and colleges must make China a focus of international efforts, in part because of the emerging expertise in the nation, in part because of the dramatic development of higher education and because the US has the right combination of science, technology, culture and linguistic skills that are so critical to the Chinese.
